Babies are obviously more dangerous than we thought

Baby's Day Out

Today is the first day of four weeks of staying at home with the baby. This has been an emotional process for my partner, they've essentially been together every moment since she was conceived. And leaving your child for a job you don't love doesn't feel like a fair trade.

For me it is a little different, I am excited about being home with the baby, but I am too preoccupied with avoiding disaster to enjoy it too much. My main goal is to keep the insanity to a minimum, and keep the baby out of the hospital. I noticed that the movie "Baby's Day Out" is on today. This is based on a true story, and while I haven't seen the movie, I can imagine it began something like this; dad gets caught up in Episode One of Half Life 2, and the next thing the baby is on the fire escape being chased by Joe Pants and Joe Mantegna. If I see Joey Pants, I know something went wrong.
